The issue of 2012 triggered the end of the Mayan calendar will fall December 21, 2012. Among the descendants of the Maya was there that believe it. They perform a ritual to welcome "doomsday" and prepare a coffin filled with memorabilia.

However, Leonzo Barreno, Maya experts from Saskatchewan, Canada said, the concept of 'Resurrection' is a wrong interpretation of the long count calendar (long count).

Lecturer University of Regina was added, the Mayan elders tell him, December 21 this year only a simple meaning, a new calendar change.

Barreno, who immigrated to Canada from Guatemala 23 years ago specifically trained by Mayan elders to read the calendar. "There are two opposite sides of the story," he said. "On the one hand, this calendar is connected with the coming apocalypse. Others, is a version of the Maya, that you rarely encounter in the media, because they (reporters) never interviewed us, the Maya."

In fact, he adds, the Maya only seen five seconds in the movie "2012" starring John Cusack. Though the film was based on what is claimed as the Mayans predicted.

"When I was growing up among the Mayans, also during training, I had never heard the word" apocalypse "of elders and spiritual leaders."

For the Mayans, Barreno adds, December 21, 2012 is the momentum of excitement, not something scary. "It's something that cliche," he told CBC. "This never happened before, according to the Mayan elders, this is his fifth time to happen."

Moreover, like the Mayans believed, Bolon Yokte is a figure associated with the changes. Many descendants of the Maya who also dismissed the doomsday predictions, and call it a 'Western idea'.
